RS Bharathi, DMK Organisational Secretary, has addressed the controversy surrounding a school in Chennai allegedly conducting 'Spiritual Awakening Classes'. Bharathi accused the RSS group of attempting to impose its influence in Tamil Nadu, stating they couldn't 'digest' the DMK government. He further mentioned that Chief Minister MK Stalin has taken note of the incident and issued a statement.
The School Education Minister also responded, assuring the public that no such religious events will be permitted in Tamil Nadu's schools moving forward. He promised that a detailed investigation into the incident, which took place at Ashok Nagar Government Girls Higher Secondary School by the Paramporul Foundation, will reveal the facts within days. Videos of the session sparked social media outrage and led to protests from DYFI and SFI cadres.
Bharathi also took a jab at the Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, criticising his prolonged tenure and accusing him of being ineffective. Chief Minister Stalin, in a social media post, emphasized the need for a progressive-scientific curriculum for students, promising new guidelines to ensure the same. State School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh confirmed that an investigative committee has been formed to look into the incident and promised swift action.
