President Droupadi Murmu paid floral tributes to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the former President of India, on his birth anniversary at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday. Soon, the President will confer the National Teachers' Award 2024 to 82 selected awardees at Vigyan Bhawan in the national capital.

President Murmu also extended her greetings to teachers across the country on the eve of Teachers' Day, wishing them success in their efforts to build an enlightened community of students poised to take India to greater heights. In her message, the President expressed warm wishes to all teachers, heralding Dr. Radhakrishnan as a great source of inspiration for the nation.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his Teachers' Day greetings, offering gratitude to all educators for shaping young minds and paying tribute to Dr. Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary. Similarly, Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded teachers for their pivotal role in society-building, commemorating Dr. Radhakrishnan's contributions.

Teachers' Day, celebrated annually on September 5, honors the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a revered scholar and Bharat Ratna recipient. Dr. Radhakrishnan served as India's first Vice President from 1952 to 1962 and as the second President from 1962 to 1967.
