Six Maoists were killed in a violent encounter with police forces in Telangana's Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Thursday, a senior police official confirmed.
According to a press release from the Superintendent of Police, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, the incident occurred on the morning of September 5 in the forest area of Mothe village, located 5 km northwest of Karakagudem Police Station. During routine patrolling, the police encountered armed cadres of the outlawed CPI (M) who began firing indiscriminately.
Despite warnings from the police, the Maoist cadres continued to fire, prompting the police to return fire. After the gunfire ceased, the police searched the area and discovered six bodies dressed in olive green. Weapons recovered from the scene included two AK-47 rifles, one SLR, one .303 rifle, one pistol, and various other supplies. The identities of the deceased are yet to be established.
