Mumbai's renowned Lalbaugcha Raja was unveiled on Thursday evening, days ahead of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, founded in 1934 at Putlabai Chawl, is home to this iconic Ganesh idol.

For more than eight decades, the Kambli family has overseen the care of the Lalbaugcha Raja idol. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi, a significant ten-day festival starting on September 7, will mark yet another chapter in this long tradition. Celebrations begin with 'Chaturthi' and conclude on 'Anantha Chaturdashi'.

The festival—also known as 'Vinayak Chaturthi' or 'Vinayak Chavithi'—honors Ganesha as the God of New Beginnings and Remover of Obstacles, alongside his wisdom and intelligence. It's a time of significant fervor across Mumbai and Maharashtra, attracting lakhs of devotees who seek blessings from Lord Ganesh.

During Ganesh Chaturthi, people bring Lord Ganesh idols to their homes, observe fasts, cook delicious foods, and visit pandals to partake in the celebrations. (ANI)
