Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Thursday that India's solar energy capacity has surged 32-fold over the past decade, attributing this rapid growth to the nation's emphasis on speed and scale. Modi believes this progress will help India achieve its ambitious target of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030.
In a video message to the International Solar Festival, Modi highlighted India's strides in green energy and its role as the first G20 nation to meet Paris Agreement commitments. He also called for the democratization of green energy technology and the inclusion of marginalized communities to support developing nations.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi echoed Modi's sentiments, underscoring India's historical reverence for the Sun and the blend of ancient wisdom with modern technology. Joshi emphasized the need for reliable energy access worldwide and the critical role of initiatives like the SolarX Startup Challenge in addressing the challenges faced by the solar sector.
