In Taipei, a zero-waste workshop is making waves by transforming everyday plastic waste into fashionable items like sunglasses. Customers bring plastic waste from home and, within two hours, witness the process of turning trash into something valuable, thanks to the innovative machinery developed by Miniwiz.

"What we are trying to show in the Trash Kitchen is to let you see, feel, touch within minutes how this process can actually work without secondary pollution, and you can actually turn it into something of value directly in front of you," said Arthur Huang, founder of Miniwiz, the company behind the workshop.

The initiative has gained support from key figures in the fashion industry, including Kora Hsieh, editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar Taiwan. Participants of the workshop, such as business owner Debbie Wu, find it inspiring and eye-opening, making them reconsider their consumption and recycling habits. Taiwan produced a record 11.58 million metric tons of waste in 2023, emphasizing the need for such sustainable initiatives.
