Delhi Government Under Scrutiny for Plastic Waste Violations

The National Green Tribunal has demanded explanations from the Delhi government and others over illegal plastic waste disposal and burning in Delhi. The actions violate environmental laws, prompting a hearing with further responses required by April 21, 2025.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has called on the Delhi government and associated bodies to explain the illegal dumping and burning of plastic waste in parts of the city.

This call to action came in response to a plea citing breaches of environmental regulations, including the Plastic Waste Management Rules and pollution control acts.

An NGT bench, led by Justice Prakash Shrivastava, has issued notices to the respondents, including the Delhi Pollution Control Committee and Haryana, with a hearing slated for April 21, 2025.
