Uttarakhand CM Celebrates Folk Culture, Releases Tribute Book on Pritam Bharatwan

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami celebrated the state's rich folk culture at the Jagar Lok Sanskriti Utsav on Tuesday, where he unveiled the book 'Uttarakhand ka Lok Putra Pritam Bharatwan' by Sachidanand Semwal. Dhami hailed Bharatwan as the brand ambassador of Uttarakhand's folk culture.

The Chief Minister emphasized Bharatwan's pivotal role in showcasing the sacred folk traditions of Devbhoomi to a global audience. Describing the event as a celebration of the state's ancient culture, Dhami said that Jagar is also a traditional medium for invoking deities. He lauded Bharatwan's efforts in engaging the youth through the Jagar Academy and reiterated that Jagar and Dhol Vadan are essential to the state's cultural identity.

Dhami highlighted the state government's continuous efforts to nurture and promote Uttarakhand's folk art and culture. He noted initiatives to honor emerging artists, support for 3,200 folk artists during the pandemic, and monthly pensions for artists above 60. He spoke about restoring traditional fairs and efforts to gain recognition for Jagar singing and preserve cultural scripts through various initiatives.

The Chief Minister also praised author Sachidanand Semwal, stating that his work would bring wider recognition to Pritam Bharatwan's contributions. (ANI)
