An 11-foot King Cobra was rescued from a house in Bangra village in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district. The incident occurred around 6:30 pm, forest officials stated. The snake, weighing 6.7 kgs, was later released into the Dukra wildlife range on Tuesday morning.
Range officer Srikanta Mohanty of Pithabata Range, Baripada forest division, reported that a team, along with experienced snake rescuers, was dispatched immediately upon receiving information. The snake was examined by a local veterinarian before its release.
The King Cobra had reportedly entered the house while chasing a monitor lizard, explained the resident whose house was temporary refuge for the reptile. Forest officials ensured the snake's safe return to its natural habitat.
