Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the Bharatiya Janata Party's 2024 membership drive, stressing that it is more than a mere formality, but an expansion of the party's ideological family. Modi renewed his membership and linked the campaign to the implementation of 33% reservation for women in Legislative Assemblies and Parliament.

'If we are to introduce the 33% reservation for women during this period, can we enlist individuals who can help ensure the maximum number of women are elected as MLAs and MPs?' Modi asked. 'This drive isn't just a numbers game; it's an ideological and emotional movement,' he added.

Receiving his membership renewal certificate from BJP president JP Nadda at the 'Sanghatan Parva, Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024' event, Modi noted the party's long-standing efforts to introduce a new political culture from the days of Bharatiya Jana Sangh. He also encouraged BJP members to make border villages a party stronghold, and reflected on the sacrifices made by party workers over the years.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Health Minister JP Nadda also addressed the gathering. The membership drive will occur in two phases—September 2 to September 25 and October 1 to October 15—targeting specific milestones for comprehensive national reach.
