Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday highlighted the significance of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) 2024 membership drive, describing it as more than a ritual but an expansion of the family's ideological movement. Speaking at the launch event, PM Modi, who renewed his membership, underscored that the drive coincides with the introduction of 33% reservation for women in Legislative Assemblies and Parliament.

'If this 33% reservation for women is to be introduced during this time, can we include individuals who will help ensure the success of this crucial decision by electing the maximum number of women as MLAs and MPs?' he inquired. 'This membership drive isn't just a numbers game; it's an ideological and emotional endeavor,' he added.

Receiving his BJP membership renewal certificate from party president JP Nadda at the 'Sanghatan Parva, Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024,' Modi reflected on efforts to establish a new political culture from the days of Bharatiya Jana Sangh to now. 'If a political unit does not follow democratic values internally, it faces challenges like many other parties today,' PM Modi remarked, recalling his early days painting Lotus symbols with confidence they would resonate with people.

Further, he noted that BJP distinguishes itself by adhering to democratic processes and consistently improving to meet public expectations. 'Several generations have invested their lives in this party, making it dear to the people,' he said.

Modi became emotional as he recounted the struggles of party workers. 'BJP workers have protested and faced imprisonment for advocating people's issues. Fifty years ago, Jan Sangh activists in Ahmedabad were jailed for demonstrating, including a woman who spent a month in jail with her 9-month-old baby,' he shared. The Prime Minister called on BJP members to fortify border villages as party strongholds.

Speaking at the event, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Health Minister and BJP chief JP Nadda also underscored the campaign's significance. The membership drive will be conducted in two phases, from September 2 to September 25 and October 1 to October 15, targeting specific milestones for nationwide reach.
