Tragic Incident in Tripura: College Student Commits Suicide After Stabbing Classmate

A tragic incident unfolded in Tripura as a college student died by suicide after fatally stabbing a class 9 girl who had rejected his romantic proposal, a senior police official reported.

The victim, Tania Baruah, was en route to private tuition in Kanchanpur, North Tripura district, when the attack occurred around 8.30 am. Police say the attacker, Kartik Nath (21), blocked her path and stabbed her multiple times.

Bleeding profusely, Baruah fell to the ground, and Nath then slit his own throat. Both were rushed to Kanchanpur sub-divisional hospital, where Baruah was declared dead. Nath was transferred to Dharmanagar for further treatment but succumbed to his injuries. Preliminary investigations suggest Nath's actions were prompted by the rejection of his romantic advance.
