Senior advocate Pramod Kumar Dubey on Monday underscored the urgent need for infrastructure development in the judiciary, following concerns raised by President Droupadi Murmu. He emphasized the critical role of appointing additional judges and enhancing basic facilities to expedite the delivery of justice.

In an interview with ANI, Dubey remarked, "The government must initiate measures to provide the necessary infrastructure. In Delhi, courts are diligent in hearing cases if witnesses are present and judges are consistently addressing cases. However, the judiciary remains significantly burdened." Addressing perceptions about powerful individuals evading punishment, he stated, "It's inaccurate to claim that the affluent evade justice. Many industrialists, politicians, and senior bureaucrats are imprisoned, reflecting that wealth and power do not exempt them from the law."

Dubey further emphasized, "The judiciary operates impartially, providing legal assistance to all levels of society. Claims that the underprivileged are denied help are unfounded." He called for government-led initiatives to raise legal awareness in rural areas. "Conducting seminars and educational programs about legal rights is essential to ensure people approach the judiciary. Judges are unbiased, and the Indian judicial system is superior globally. However, they require better infrastructure, especially basic amenities like coolers in extreme conditions."

He concluded, "Enhanced infrastructure will accelerate judicial verdicts." Legal experts have previously highlighted the need for collaboration between the bar and the bench to address the issues noted by President Murmu, advocating joint efforts to reduce adjournments and improve access to justice for the poor and vulnerable.

On Sunday, President Droupadi Murmu revealed a new flag and insignia for the Supreme Court during its 75th-anniversary celebrations in the national capital. She also participated in the valedictory session of a two-day National Conference of District Judiciary, emphasizing the significant challenges faced by the judiciary and the need for coordinated efforts by all stakeholders to address them.
