The Union Cabinet announced the approval of approximately Rs 14,000 crore for seven major programmes in the farming sector on Monday. Among these, Rs 2,817 crore will be directed towards a digital agriculture mission, and Rs 3,979 crore will be allocated for a crop science scheme.

After the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw detailed the sanctioned funds. Rs 2,291 crore will be devoted to enhancing agricultural education and management, and Rs 1,702 crore has been earmarked for sustainable livestock health and production.

Additional allocations include Rs 860 crore for sustainable horticulture development, Rs 1,202 crore for strengthening Krish Vigyan Kendra, and Rs 1,115 crore for Natural Resource Management, totaling over Rs 13,960 crore.
