Amidst relentless rainfall in Gujarat, a 34-year-old home guard, identified as Devesh, tragically lost his life after being swept away by the floodwaters. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) confirmed the recovery of his body.

Rajesh Kumar Mahalawat, an NDRF Inspector, stated, "As you can see, monsoon is ongoing and our team has been operating in Dwarka for the past two months. Heavy rains persisted for the last five to six days. On August 30, a Home Guard jawan was swept away under a bridge, and rescue efforts were initiated."

Despite initial challenges, the NDRF recovered Devesh's body on September 1. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was briefed on the damages in the Devbhoomi Dwarka district, reporting damage to homes, livestock losses, one human fatality, and two injuries. The government has deployed a war-footing response to mitigate the infrastructure damage caused by heavy rains, focusing on making roads passable. An Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) led by a National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) executive director will assess the flood damage. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured all possible support from the Central government.
