Heavy Rains Disrupt Rail Services in South Central India

Heavy rains near the Intakanne railway station have caused extensive damage to railway tracks connecting Kesamudram and Intakanne, resulting in the disruption of train services on Sunday. Restoration efforts are currently underway, with officials projecting completion by tomorrow evening.

Chief Project Manager of South Central Railways, Secunderabad Division, Subramaniam, reported six major breaches along the track, with the most significant being 50-70 meters in length. 'We are attending to the major breaches at kilometres 418, 432, and 433. Currently, we are focused on the breaches at kilometre 418 and 433,' Subramaniam said.

South Central Railway General Manager Arun Kumar Jain inspected the damaged sites, stating that several long-distance trains have been canceled or diverted for public safety. 'Restoration operations are aimed to conclude by tomorrow evening,' he added. To address the flood situation in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu is spearheading relief efforts, deploying boats and setting up command centres. The IMD has issued a weather warning, predicting more heavy rain in the coming days.
