In a significant move, the Congress party expelled former PSC member Simi Rose Bell John following allegations of derogatory remarks against women leaders. The decision was announced by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) General Secretary M Liju, who confirmed that KPCC President K Sudhakaran had removed Simi from the party's primary membership.

The expulsion stemmed from accusations claiming Simi's remarks aimed to mentally harass and defame numerous female leaders and workers within the Congress. It was alleged that her actions were in collusion with political adversaries. Prominent women leaders, including members of the KPCC Political Affairs Committee, KPCC office bearers, and the Mahila Congress State President, had appealed for action against her.

In response to the charges, Simi Rose Bell John publicly criticized the party, alleging baseless accusations and a history of expelling women leaders who voice their concerns. KPCC President K Sudhakaran dismissed her claims as unfounded and confirmed that the party will investigate the complaint filed by the Mahila Congress against her.
