Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury is currently receiving medical treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, according to a press release issued by the party's Central Committee office. A team of specialist doctors is attending to Yechury, who is battling a respiratory infection.
Yechury was admitted to AIIMS on August 19, 2024. Initial reports state that he was first taken to the emergency ward but was subsequently transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The hospital has yet to release detailed information regarding the specific nature of his condition.
Additionally, it has been noted that the CPI(M) leader had recently undergone cataract surgery. (ANI)
