Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, presided over a high-level meeting Friday with senior Ministry officials to review preparations for the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign 2024. Set to begin on September 17, the nationwide cleanliness initiative will run until October 2, with preparatory events starting September 14.

This year commemorates a decade of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, observed annually since 2014 in honor of Gandhi Jayanti. Minister Lal emphasized the importance of active participation at all government levels and the need to engage citizens nationwide. The campaign aims to mobilize millions through various activities.

The initiative focuses on promoting cleanliness as a behavior—'Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata.' It includes three key components: Jan Bhagidari (public participation), achieving cleanliness, and recognizing Safai Mitras, sanitation workers, and other stakeholders. The fortnight-long campaign will see widespread participation from district administrations and state governments, ensuring a coordinated approach to cleanliness.

Minister Lal stressed that the campaign's success relies on collective efforts from government officials, NGOs, Corporates, and citizens. He expressed confidence that Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 will significantly contribute to the Government's mission to promote cleanliness and hygiene across India. (ANI)
