Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister and Ministers have postponed their salaries in a symbolic gesture aimed at bolstering the state's economy. This decision has been widely welcomed by the public.

Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh underscored the necessity of revising taxation policies, improving the mining policy, and managing water resources more efficiently, with the potential for significant revenue generation. He also indicated that the legalization of hemp cultivation for medicinal use is under consideration, pending discussion in the legislative assembly.

Singh emphasized the urgent need for disaster relief funds from the central government, noting the substantial losses incurred from recent disasters and floods. He mentioned that approximately 160 roads remain closed, and the state has allocated substantial funds for restoration. Meanwhile, Singh addressed comments from senior Akali Dal leader Simranjit Singh Mann, expressing respect for Kangana Ranaut and urging her to reflect on her recent statements.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, in a statement during the monsoon session of the Assembly, highlighted the financial challenges faced by the state, attributing them to reduced grants, halted GST compensation, and unreceived NPS contributions from the central government. Sukhu outlined the severe budgetary shortfalls and the impact on the state's fiscal health.
