RBI Warns Public Against Fraudulent Activities Using its Name
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued a warning to the public about fraudulent activities misusing its name. It advised against sharing personal details, KYC documents, login credentials, and OTPs with unidentified persons. Fraudsters impersonate RBI employees and lure victims with fictitious offers or intimidate them to part with money.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued a cautionary note to the public, highlighting fraudulent activities being conducted under its name. The central bank urged individuals not to share account login details, OTPs, or KYC documents with unidentified persons.
According to an RBI statement, unscrupulous elements are deploying various methods to defraud the public by posing as RBI officials. Fraudsters employ fake letterheads and email addresses to lure people with fictitious offers like lottery winnings, fund transfers, and government schemes.
The RBI also warned about tactics wherein small and medium businesses are targeted under the guise of government contracts, requiring 'security deposits' for promised lucrative payments. Public are advised to report any suspicious communication to law enforcement agencies.
