Tragic Flash Flood Claims Three Young Lives in Ramban, Authorities Still Searching for Four Missing

A flash flood caused by a cloudburst in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, has resulted in the recovery of three children's bodies and left four people still missing. Rescue operations are ongoing.

The bodies of three children, tragically swept away by a sudden flash flood due to a cloudburst, were recovered from Tangar and Gaddi Nallahas at Rajgarh in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, according to local authorities. Four individuals, including two girls and two women, remain missing.

Officials identified the deceased as Yasir, aged 20, Khalid Hussain, aged 12, and Shazia Bano, aged 7. Rajgarh Police Post Incharge, Subhash Kumar, reported that the missing persons are identified as Nasima Begum, 40, Gulshan Begum, 40, Seerat Bano, 6, and Nazia Bano, 6.

The incident occurred on August 26, prompting the district administration to mobilize all available resources immediately. Tehsildar Rajgarh Major Singh noted that a passenger vehicle, car, and scooter were also swept away in the flash flood. The Government Middle School in Gadgra was completely destroyed, while the Government Middle School in Draman sustained damage. Rescue teams from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, SDRF, and NDRF are actively engaged in operations to locate the missing individuals.

The victims' family has made an emotional appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for assistance. The rescue efforts are continuing as of the latest reports. (ANI)
