In a significant development, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday instructed the Chief Secretary to promptly address representations made by BJP MLA Abhay Verma regarding the installation of CCTV cameras across the Laxmi Nagar area.

Verma, representing Laxmi Nagar, claims that a survey by Bharat Electronics Limited identified a need for 2,066 CCTV cameras. However, he alleges that the installation process selectively benefited areas represented by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) officials, leaving out the majority BJP-ruled wards in his constituency.

Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, who headed the bench, acknowledged the submissions and called for a swift decision from the Chief Secretary. Verma's plea argues this selective installation biases safety and security measures against BJP areas, urging equitable distribution to uphold law and order.
