Fifteen individuals, referred to as Govindas, sustained injuries during Mumbai's Dahi Handi celebrations on Krishna Janmashtami, as reported by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and private hospitals on Tuesday. The injured are receiving medical attention in the outpatient departments of various hospitals.

Nair Hospital and Poddar Hospitals have each reported four cases, the highest number of injuries among the facilities. Sion Hospital has reported two cases, while Rajawadi Hospital, MT Agrawal Hospital, Kurla Bhabha Hospital, and St. George Hospital have each received one case. Last year, 195 Govindas were injured during the same festival, with 18 admitted to hospitals and 177 discharged after treatment.

Dahi Handi, a major cultural activity, involves participants forming human pyramids to break an earthen pot filled with curd, butter, and other dairy products. This tradition celebrates Lord Krishna's playful and innocent nature, along with his love for butter and curd. The festival is part of the larger Janmashtami celebrations, which include prayers, decorated swings, and cultural performances.
