On Janmashtami, Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar visited the family of the Kolkata rape and murder victim, lighting a candle in her memory. He also met with the victim's parents during his visit.

Majumdar spoke to ANI, urging the people of the state to light a candle on Janmashtami in memory of the victim, to bring peace to her soul and ensure justice. "I urged this at the protest site and have started this at her home with her family," said Majumdar.

Addressing concerns about the delay in justice, Majumdar highlighted that the CBI's investigation is taking time due to evidence tampering. "Today's video shows the crime scene has been trampled, likely destroying evidence. There should be cases against those in the video for tampering with evidence. The CBI has to conduct polygraph tests due to this tampering," he added.

The brutal rape and murder of the woman trainee doctor at the R G Kar Medical College and Hospital sparked national outrage. Protests have demanded justice since the incident. The CBI conducted a polygraph test on the arrested accused, Sanjay Roy. On August 25, teacher Parimal Dey returned his Banga Ratna award in protest of the state government's handling of the incident. The trainee doctor was found dead on August 9. (ANI)
