As the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections loom, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) unveiled an extensive manifesto on Saturday, pledging to restore Articles 370 and 35A, initiate India-Pakistan diplomatic talks, and ensure the dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits. The PDP insists it is determined to re-establish constitutional guarantees and restore Jammu & Kashmir to its original status, ensuring voices in the region are heard and rights protected.

The PDP's manifesto condemns the 2019 abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A as unconstitutional, complicating the Kashmir issue and deepening local alienation. It promises diplomatic initiatives focusing on conflict resolution and regional cooperation, including full connectivity across the Line of Control for trade and social exchange.

The manifesto further commits to revoking the PSA, UAPA, Enemy Act, and AFSPA to end unjust arrests and promises the re-establishment of the J&K Human Rights Commission. It also proposes revising housing schemes for returning Kashmiri Pandit families, providing free electricity, social security benefits, job regularization, and infrastructure development, alongside urban planning and religious site promotion.
