Former YSRCP MLA Pinneli Ramakrishna Reddy, who was detained in connection with the destruction of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the Andhra Pradesh elections, was released from Nellore prison on Saturday. The High Court of Andhra Pradesh granted him conditional bail.

Following his release, ex-YSRCP Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy accused the Telugu Desham Party-led government of unfairly targeting Ramakrishna Reddy, describing him as a respected leader who has been elected four times from the Macharla constituency. Govardhan Reddy criticized Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly using legal intimidation tactics against detractors.

Govardhan Reddy noted that while EVMs were destroyed at multiple locations, only Ramakrishna Reddy faced charges. He warned of severe future consequences if such political vendettas continued, asserting that power is transient. Govardhan Reddy also attributed Naidu's current ridicule by the public to his failure to deliver good governance within the promised 100 days. He affirmed his readiness to confront further legal challenges.

Ramakrishna Reddy was implicated in the destruction of EVMs and an assault on police personnel at a Macharla polling center. The incident, captured on web camera, prompted an Election Commission of India investigation, leading to his arrest. Govardhan Reddy expressed relief at the High Court's decision to grant bail, viewing it as a step towards justice.
