Previously known for either its cultural richness or insurgent violence, Bastar is undergoing a positive change. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has recognized the potential of Bastar's Narayanpur district, selecting it as a venue for prestigious football tournaments. Hosting two national championships at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Sports Complex, Bastar has proven its readiness for large-scale sporting events, positioning itself as a promising and safe destination.

Praising Bastar's progress, AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey highlighted the transformative potential of sports. He noted, 'We have an agreement with the Chhattisgarh Football Association to host the U-20 national championship in Bastar for three consecutive years. CM Sai remarked on the region's rapid development, making Naxalism an obsolete narrative.
