Homegrown engineering solutions provider Axiscades on Tuesday announced that its subsidiary Epcogen has secured an energy storage project from UK-based Highview Power.

The project promises to generate 50 MW of power for a duration of 6 hours, aggregating to 300 MW, according to a company statement.

'Subsidiary Epcogen has been awarded a long-term contract by Highview Power, a British energy storage technology producer. This venture will encompass the world's largest liquid air energy storage (LAES) facility, availing a 50 MW, 300 MWh (six-hour) long-duration energy storage capacity to power over 1 million homes in the UK,' the company revealed.

Slated for a 20-month engineering, construction, and procurement (EPC) setup, the project will be based in Carrington, Manchester, with commercial operations set to commence in 2026.

Epcogen will undertake comprehensive engineering activities, including process detailing, technical safety, civil structural, and telecom services. The project is advancing to its EPC execution phase.

Highview Power is globally recognized for pioneering long-duration energy storage from renewable sources.

'This contract significantly bolsters our engineering expertise and reinforces our commitment to sustainable, innovative energy solutions,' stated Arun Krishnamurthi, CEO and MD of Axiscades.

John Goldie, Programme Director at Highview Power, expressed eagerness to deepen their collaboration with Epcogen initiated in the pre-execution phase of the Carrington project. Bengaluru-based Axiscades remains a prominent engineering and technology solutions provider across sectors like aerospace, defense, heavy engineering, automotive, and energy.
