Protests erupted at Badlapur railway station in Thane district on Tuesday, halting local trains as agitators blocked the tracks following an alleged sexual assault involving two minor girls at a local school last week. The Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway confirmed that train services were stopped due to the agitation.

The incident has deeply angered the residents of Badlapur, who took to the streets demanding justice. Police have made an arrest in the case after the parents discovered the assault on August 18 and filed a First Information Report (FIR). Consequently, train movements have been significantly affected due to ongoing protests at the station.

Priyanka Chaturvedi, a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament from the UBT Sena, condemned the incident. "Two young girls were sexually assaulted in Badlapur, Maharashtra, within the school premises. The entire state is outraged and seeks justice. I once again urge the President to approve the Maharashtra Shakti Criminal Law to ensure no other child or woman faces such a travesty. It's a shame on the state government for continuing to ignore the safety of women," Chaturvedi said.
