Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has accused his political opponents of being behind the allegations in the MUDA scam, calling them politically motivated. This comes a day after the Karnataka High Court directed a trial court to refrain from taking any precipitative action against him based on sanctions issued by the Governor.
Earlier, Siddaramaiah had petitioned the High Court, challenging the Governor's decision to sanction his prosecution in the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment scam. In a post on social media, Siddaramaiah expressed his belief in the judiciary and the Constitution, asserting that the truth will eventually prevail.
The High Court's bench, led by Justice M. Nagaprasanna, deferred the trial proceedings and set August 29 for the next hearing. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi argued that the Governor's sanction lacked merit and didn't align with a Cabinet decision, highlighting issues of procedural impropriety. Activist Snehamayi Krishna initially filed the complaint, alleging forgery and corruption.
