Chief Minister Pramod Sawant attended the Narali Pournima celebrations on Monday, where he launched the Matsya Vahini Matsya Ahar Fish Kiosks under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. The event, organized by the Department of Fisheries, saw the presence of Fisheries Minister Shri Nilkanth Halarnkar, Fisheries Secretary E Vallavan, among others. In his speech, the Chief Minister announced the distribution of 10 'Matsya Vahini' environment-friendly e-rickshaws to facilitate the transportation of fish from landing sites to markets.

Sawant further revealed that 25 'Matsya Ahar' retail fish outlets have been sanctioned for Goa. These steps are expected to create employment opportunities for the local youth. He also highlighted that the Government of Goa is working on establishing a Fisheries College, aimed at providing further opportunities for Goan youth. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that these initiatives would foster employment and economic growth for Goans, potentially building a brighter future.

Additionally, Sawant took to social media platform X to extend best wishes to the people of Goa for Raksha Bandhan and Narali Pournima. Narali Pournima marks the end of the monsoon season, after which fishermen resume their trade. The festival is celebrated by Hindu fishing communities in Maharashtra, particularly along the Konkan coast. Earlier in the day, Sawant also celebrated Raksha Bandhan with his sisters from the Bhartiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha of Goa, wishing everyone a joyous occasion filled with love and cherished memories.
