Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker, who clinched two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics, met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in the national capital on Thursday. Defence Minister Singh shared a photograph with Bhaker on X and expressed that every Indian is "elated by her incredible performances."

Singh remarked, "Delighted to meet India's ace shooter, Manu Bhaker, who scripted history at the Paris Olympics by winning two bronze medals for the country. Every Indian is elated by her incredible performances. Best wishes for her future endeavours." In the same day, Bhaker, hailing from Haryana, also connected with former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his son, Congress MP Deepender Hooda.

MP Deepender Hooda congratulated Bhaker for her Olympic feat, stating, "We congratulate our sister Manu Bhaker who has done the work of increasing the pride of the country. She is the first player from independent India to win two medals in the same Olympics, which is a great pride for us."

On Wednesday, Manu Bhaker also met Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi. The Congress party shared on X, "Today Manu Bhaker, who brought glory to the country by winning two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics, met CPP Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi."

Bhaker made history by securing third place in the women's individual 10m air pistol event, becoming the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal. She, alongside Sarabjot Singh, won bronze in the 10m air pistol (mixed team) event, India's first-ever shooting team medal. She narrowly missed a historic treble, finishing fourth in the women's 25m pistol shooting event. (ANI)
