Delhi and Punjab Police Amp Up Security Ahead of Independence Day

In preparation for Independence Day, Delhi Police ramped up security initiatives, issued posters of Al-Qaeda and Khalistan-associated terrorists, and encouraged public assistance. Punjab carried out comprehensive bus stand checks, and Delhi busted illegal sales of Chinese Manjha. Informants will be rewarded, and identities kept confidential.

In preparation for Independence Day celebrations in the national capital, the Delhi Police have intensified security measures and displayed posters of terrorists linked with Al-Qaeda and Khalistan across the city. Authorities have encouraged the public to assist in apprehending these terrorists, promising suitable rewards while ensuring informants' confidentiality.

To further bolster security, Sub-inspector Komal Shakya stated that the precautions aim to raise public awareness and aid in tracking the terrorists. A total of fifteen individuals are identified in the posters, including six associated with Al-Qaeda.

Similarly, the Punjab police have heightened security measures by conducting extensive spot searches at bus stands statewide. Directed by DGP Gaurav Yadav, operations ran from 1 pm to 3 pm on Tuesday in all 28 police districts. The Special DGP Law and Order, Arpit Shukla, oversaw the operation, ensuring proper cordon-off and thorough searches under the supervision of SP rank officers.

Additionally, Delhi Police have cracked down on the illegal sale of Chinese Manjha ahead of Independence Day. On Monday, authorities seized a significant amount of the banned kite string from a house in Fayaz Ganj, Azad Market area, arresting one individual during the raid.
