Authorities in Chhattisgarh's Baloda Bazaar are investigating the mysterious deaths of 14 cattle found inside a house in Marda village. Officials discovered the carcasses, including 10 calves, on Friday.

A statement from the district administration revealed that a joint team of police and local officials, acting on District Collector Deepak Soni's orders, reached the scene after residents complained of a foul odor emanating from the house.

Preliminary findings suggest the cattle might have died 2-3 days prior to their discovery. Villagers informed the authorities that stray animals were being housed to protect crops. Subsequently, four individuals—Sushil Kumar Sahu, Teras Ram Sahu, Laxmi Prasad Yadav, and Rakesh Kumar Jangde—were detained in connection with the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
