In a relief to bank customers of around 300 lenders, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on Thursday re-established connectivity with systems affected by a ransomware attack on C-Edge Technologies. This restoration allows account holders to resume transactions such as ATM withdrawals and UPI payments.

Since Monday, customers of some Regional Rural Banks and cooperative banks faced outages in crucial payment services like NEFT, UPI, and ATM withdrawals due to the ransomware attack on C-Edge. An independent forensic audit confirmed the systems' security, enabling NPCI to restore services.

NPCI stated that the impact was contained to C-Edge's data centers, ensuring other banking infrastructures were unaffected. This move will help banks offer a full range of services, just as before the attack. Rajkot Commercial Cooperative Bank's CEO, Purushottam Pipaliya, confirmed that efforts to restore systems are ongoing.
