CBI Arrests NBCC DGM in Bribery Scandal
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Varun Popli, a DGM at NBCC Ltd., for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe in connection with a construction project. Further investigation is ongoing.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended Varun Popli, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of NBCC Ltd., on charges of bribery. Popli allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe while overseeing a construction project in Leh.
The complainant, involved in the same construction project, submitted a written complaint asserting that Popli demanded an undue advantage of Rs 7.40 lakh. During the verification process, the CBI discovered that Popli had raised his demand to Rs 11.40 lakh. Consequently, a case was registered, and a trap was laid to catch the accused red-handed.
Trapped in the act, Popli was caught accepting Rs 5 lakh out of the demanded Rs 11.40 lakh. He is set to be presented before the Court of Competent Jurisdiction in Delhi on Thursday. Following his arrest, a search operation was conducted at his residence in Delhi. The investigation continues.
