Newly sworn-in Punjab Governor, Gulab Chand Kataria, pledged to approach his new role with a focus on public service. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday after taking the oath, Kataria emphasized, "These posts are not decorations; they require serving the people."

Kataria, who brings over four decades of public service experience, highlighted his commitment to resolving common issues and maintaining an open-door policy. "Anyone can come to me and speak. I habitually work in tandem with everyone," he noted. Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu administered the oath at Raj Bhavan.

Kataria, who previously served as the governor of Assam, replaces Banwarilal Purohit. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann congratulated Kataria, expressing hope for productive collaboration. "We will work together for the welfare of Punjab," Mann said, lauding Kataria's vast experience.
