Sanam Khan, alias Nagma Noor Maqsood, was apprehended by Vartak Nagar Police in Thane. Khan has been remanded to two-day police custody by the court, according to Thane police. The authorities have charged the 23-year-old with using counterfeit documents to secure a passport for travel to Pakistan.

Khan, speaking to ANI, disclosed that she altered her name in 2015 and finds it burdensome to visit the police station whenever she comes to India. 'I changed my name in 2015. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, I met Bashir Ahmed, now my husband, via social media. We decided to marry, and our families connected through video and voice calls. I obtained my passports in 2023 after clearing all legal requirements. If an inquiry is necessary, I am fine with that, but I cannot visit the police station every time I come to India. I have followed legal procedures,' Khan explained.

Deputy Commissioner Zone 05, Amar Singh Jadhav, confirmed that a probe is in progress, with more details expected soon. Further investigation into the case is underway.
