Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Thursday assessed flood-affected areas in Ekta Nagar and Vitthal Nagar, Pune, addressing public grievances and closely monitoring the unfolding situation.

Deputy CM Pawar remarked on the unprecedented waterlogging, pledging to consult locals and technical teams for solutions. He assured further action would involve coordination with city and regional officials. During this time, Pune's District Fire Brigade executed a rescue operation saving 70 individuals stranded in the Nimbjanagar area due to heavy downpours.

Heavy rains rendered parts of Pune submerged, leading to ongoing rescue and relief efforts by the Fire Brigade. Concurrently, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde evaluated statewide impacts, directing Raigad officials to assist flood victims. Traffic at Tamhini Ghat on the Raigad-Pune route remains halted due to landslide debris, with clearance efforts underway.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted isolated extremely heavy rainfall in Maharashtra's ghat areas through July 27. Notably, Tamini recorded 56 centimeters of rain, highlighting the severe weather conditions. (ANI)
