Thane Police have charged a 23-year-old woman for allegedly using fake documents to secure a passport for travel to Pakistan. Authorities revealed that the woman traveled with her daughter after acquiring a fake passport and visa based on fabricated documents.
In addition, the Vartak Nagar Police have registered a case under the Indian Passport Act against the woman and an unidentified individual who assisted in forging the documents. The primary suspect, identified as Nagma Noor Maqsood Ali, also known as Sanam Khan, was apprehended according to police sources.
According to officials from Vartak Nagar Police Station, Khan procured a fake Aadhar card, PAN card, and birth certificate for her minor daughter to use in the passport application process. Utilizing these falsified documents, Sanam Khan obtained her passport and visa, allowing her to travel to Pakistan, where she stayed for one and a half months before returning to India.
The alleged crimes occurred between May 2023 and 2024. Khan has been detained, and the case remains under investigation. Despite Khan's claims of a name change, documented in an official gazette, she has not provided any supporting documents to the police.
Police identified the woman's husband as Maqsood Ali, linked to her previous name. Due to insufficient information about Maqsood, authorities are interrogating Khan. In her initial statement to the Thane Police, Khan revealed that she befriended a man on Instagram and traveled to Pakistan to meet him.
Investigators are probing the nature of the relationship between Khan and the individual in Pakistan. (ANI)
