Union Budget 2024-25 Allocates Significant Funds to Internal Security and Union Territories

The Union Budget 2024-25 allocated Rs 2,19,643 crore to the Ministry of Home Affairs. A substantial portion, Rs 1,43,275 crore, is designated for central police forces. Significant funds are also allocated to Union Territories, including Rs 42,277 crore for Jammu and Kashmir and Rs 5,958 crore for Ladakh.

The Union Budget 2024-25 has earmarked Rs 2,19,643 crore for the Ministry of Home Affairs. Of this, Rs 1,43,275 crore will be allocated to central police forces like the CRPF, BSF, and CISF, emphasizing internal security and the protection of vital installations.

Jammu and Kashmir, currently under central government control, has been granted Rs 42,277 crore. Other allocations include Rs 5,985 crore for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Rs 5,862 crore for Chandigarh, and Rs 5,958 crore for Ladakh.

The budget also designates Rs 1,248 crore for the expenditure of the Union Cabinet and Rs 6,458 crore for disaster management, relief, and rehabilitation efforts, along with grants-in-aid to state governments.
