On the birth anniversaries of freedom fighters Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Chandrashekar Azad, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge paid homage to these national heroes. Kharge took to X, expressing deep respect for their sacrifices in the struggle for independence.

In his tribute to Azad, Kharge stated, "Respectful salutations to the brave son of Mother India, great revolutionary, immortal martyr Chandrashekhar Azad. The grateful nation will always remain indebted to his sacrifice, dedication, and martyrdom for the country's freedom."

Kharge also honored Tilak, quoting, "There is such a thing as public opinion, which despots and dictators fear" and called Tilak a great social reformer and founder of the Indian Home Rule League, who was devoted to the Congress throughout his life.

The Indian National Congress echoed Kharge's sentiments, paying respects to Tilak, the proponent of Swaraj, and to Azad, the great hero of the freedom struggle.

Tilak, a scholar and nationalist, was pivotal in India's movement for independence, laying the foundation through the Indian Home Rule League and the Lucknow Pact, which he co-signed with Mohammed Ali Jinnah.

Azad, a revolutionary, played a crucial role in reorganizing the Hindustan Republican Association, ensuring the continuity of the freedom struggle even after the loss of many of its members.
