Technicians are closely monitoring the water supply in Bedfordview, Primrose, and Germiston following extensive maintenance work by Rand Water. Despite the completion of scheduled maintenance on Wednesday, 17 July 2024, the system is struggling to recover, affecting water supply in certain areas.

City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini, reported a slight improvement in water supply, with low-lying areas starting to receive water, while high-lying areas continue to experience low water pressure.

"It is common for the recovery period after maintenance to take between three and 15 days. High-lying areas typically take longer to recover as water pipes and towers need to be filled to a specific level before technicians can begin pumping water through the system," Dlamini explained.

He has appealed to affected communities and businesses for patience and encouraged them to use water sparingly to help stabilize water levels in the affected reservoirs.
