Seventy-six trainees from the King Fahd Naval Academy of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) successfully completed an extensive afloat training course at the First Training Squadron (1TS) of the Indian Navy on July 18. The training, which spanned over three weeks, took place in Kochi and included both harbour and sea phases. The harbour phase placed significant emphasis on simulator-based training covering navigational skills, firefighting techniques, and damage control measures.

In the sea phase, the trainees received hands-on experience in ship handling, communication procedures, and various seamanship evolutions. Additionally, they participated in sail training at the Watermanship Training Centre and on-board INS Tarangini. Collaborative participation in the 107 Integrated Officers Training Course (IOTC) with Indian Navy trainees significantly fostered camaraderie and strengthened relationships between the maritime nations.

The program also facilitated cultural exchanges and engagements through organized visits to historical sites, local attractions, and friendly sports matches with Indian trainees. At the valedictory function, Rear Admiral Upal Kundu, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command, interacted with the trainees and the directing staff of RSNF, who lauded the high quality of training provided. Certificates and alumni badges were awarded to the trainees on-board INS Tir, and a memoir documenting their training journey was unveiled, highlighting the growing maritime partnership between the two navies.
