Indian banks and payments systems have remained unaffected by a global Microsoft outage, which disrupted operations for financial services players worldwide.
"We are all fine," SBI Chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara told PTI, confirming no impact on India's largest lender, which holds nearly 25% market share. The NPCI CEO Dilip Asbe echoed similar sentiments, stating that the country's Unified Payments Interface remains unaffected.
Private sector giant HDFC Bank also confirmed no disruption, with their IT group head Ramesh Lakshminarayanan stating, "Our systems are unaffected by the global outage. There is no impact on banking operations." ICICI Bank and Axis Bank officials reported similar status, indicating their systems were functioning normally.
The Microsoft outage, which affected airlines, banks, media outlets, and companies globally, followed hours of escalating disruptions even as the tech company worked to gradually restore access to Microsoft 365 services.
