Delhi Government Pushes for Industrial Area Revamp with 90% Financial Support

Delhi's Industries Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj met factory owners' associations to discuss a scheme for developing 27 unplanned industrial areas, with 90% cost covered by the government and 10% by factory owners. The meeting also addressed reducing fees for MCD map approvals.

In a strong move to bolster the industrial landscape of Delhi, Industries Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj met with representatives of factory owners from 27 unplanned industrial areas at the Delhi Secretariat on Wednesday. The meeting also saw the participation of senior officials from the DSIIDC department.

Minister Bharadwaj emphasized the Delhi Government's commitment to the development and maintenance of these industrial zones. A newly introduced scheme was unveiled, wherein 90% of the development cost would be funded by the government, leaving the remaining 10% to the factory owners. This collaborative approach aims to modernize these areas, with the involvement of trade organizations.

At the forum, Brijesh Goyal, Chairman of the CTI, requested a reduction in fees for MCD map approvals in unplanned industrial areas. Minister Bharadwaj agreed and directed officials to align map fees with the new scheme, marking a significant policy shift. Vijay Virmani of the Delhi Manufacturing Federation hailed the initiative, noting its potential to create jobs and boost the economy.

Virmani pointed out that smaller factories in areas like Dabri, Khayala, and Peeragarhi employ thousands, supporting millions of families. The revamp would facilitate better business operations, benefiting both traders and Delhi's economic landscape.
