AIIMS Doctors Advise Caution on Hair Transplant Claims

Doctors at AIIMS Delhi issued a cautionary note on hair transplants, urging the public to avoid falling prey to misleading claims that could lead to complications. Dr. Maneesh Singhal, Head of the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Burns Surgery, emphasized that the procedure requires a year for results, advising against shortcuts.
Dr. KK Verma, Dean (Academics) at AIIMS and Head of the Department of Dermatology and Venereology, reiterated that hair transplants should be a last resort for hair loss. He noted that although hair transplants are becoming common, the process should only be undertaken by highly qualified experts.
As part of World Plastic Surgery Day celebrations, AIIMS conducted 82 free surgeries, including reconstructive, corrective, and hair transplants. Olympic Gold Medalist Abhinav Bindra also highlighted skin donation, encouraging people to pledge their skin for those in need. AIIMS reached out to over 400 individuals and 160 staff members during their week-long awareness campaign.
