Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, along with his wife Kalpana Soren, visited the Maa Vindhyavasini Temple in Mirzapur on Sunday to offer prayers. Soren expressed on social media that he prayed for the well-being of the state's people.
Upon his arrival, Soren was greeted by District Magistrate Shiv Pratap Shukla. Notably, Soren was recently granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court in connection with an alleged land scam case.
Soren was apprehended by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in January on charges related to land scam and money laundering. These allegations stem from the generation of illicit proceeds through forged records involving fake transactions of substantial land parcels.
Following his arrest, Soren resigned from his post but was re-elected after winning a floor test. He resumed office as Chief Minister for the third time on July 8. Soren's return to power came shortly after his release from Birsa Munda Jail on June 28, following nearly five months of detention.
His predecessor, Champai Soren, resigned shortly after five months, paving the way for Hemant Soren's reinstatement.
