Violence and arson erupted in Tripura's Ganda Twisa subdivision, formerly known as Gandacherra, after a tribal youth died on July 12. Looting and fires destroyed houses and shops in multiple areas on the outskirts of the main market. Police have been stationed in the area since Friday night to control the situation.

IG Law and Order Soumitra Dhar and the Superintendent of Police have been actively monitoring the area, with additional security forces deployed to prevent further violence. Subdivisional Magistrate Chandra Joy Reang revealed preliminary assessments indicate severe property damage, particularly in locations like the 20-card area and Narayanpur.

Victims of the attacks, including Archana Chowdhury and Parimal Das, described the destruction of their homes and property. The violence began after the death of Parameshwar Reang, who was injured at a local fair on July 7 and succumbed to his injuries on July 12. Despite arrests of the alleged attackers, the situation remains tense.
